IHG Careers provides clear current instructions for employees seeking another role inside the organization.
If a colleague has MyHR access, IHG says to sign into MyHR and select the Current Jobs icon. The colleague can then search and apply for roles through the system.
This is a useful example of why all IHG employee tasks should not be collapsed into “Merlin login.”
MyHR Has a Specific Career Function
For internal candidates with access, MyHR acts as the route into IHG’s internal-job workflow.
The task is:
existing colleague → MyHR → Current Jobs → search/apply
That is fundamentally different from employee travel or learning access.
What If You Do Not Have MyHR Access?
IHG does not say those colleagues cannot apply internally.
Its Careers page tells colleagues without MyHR access to use the external search-and-apply page and select Yes when asked whether they are a current IHG employee.
That distinction can be particularly important for colleagues whose employment relationship or hotel technology differs.
Why Access Can Differ
IHG’s broader ecosystem includes:
- corporate colleagues;
- employees at managed hotels;
- employees at franchised hotels;
- other eligible hotel-team populations.
Different systems may therefore be available to different people.
The absence of MyHR access should not automatically be interpreted as evidence that someone is not considered an IHG-system colleague for every other programme.
Internal Mobility Is Broader Than One Brand
IHG Careers emphasizes that colleagues can build careers across a wide range of hotel brands and locations.
That makes the internal-jobs workflow part of the company’s broader colleague-development strategy.
Referrals Use Different Terminology
IHG’s internal-careers material also directs colleagues to visit Merlin and search for “Refer a Friend” for information about its colleague referral programme.
This is another useful system distinction.
Internal applications are explicitly associated with MyHR.
Some referral information is still associated with Merlin.
The two names can legitimately coexist.
When MyHR Access Fails
Before searching for random replacement login pages, determine whether:
- your role normally receives MyHR access;
- you are using employer-provided instructions;
- your employment status recently changed;
- your property uses a different colleague workflow.
IHG’s official external careers route gives current colleagues without MyHR access another legitimate way to apply.
